What we do

Amcha Ghar is one NGO with many projects. We have grown from a small children’s home into an ambitious organisation that reaches an entire region and has the ambition to do even more. Our current projects are:

Amcha Ghar Home

Amcha Ghar is a home in Uttan, Mumbai, for destitute girls of the streets and slums. We provide them with a safe family environment and education. We started with three girls in 1996. Sixteen years later, we have had the pleasure with working over 40 now adult, strong women and we currently shelter almost 25 girls. Read more about our Home.

Amcha Ghar School

Amcha Ghar School offers accessible and affordable English medium education to children regardless of their gender or ethnic background. Since 2002, we have grown into an organisation that offers day care and preschooling as well as primary and secondary education. Read more about Amcha Ghar School.

Bhayander Extension Home

We have aquired an extension home in Bhayander, a city close to Uttan. When the girls of Amcha Ghar turn eightteen, they can live here to follow higher education and, under our care, learn how to live on their own.

Uttan Preschools

In 2003 and 2004, Amcha Ghar has founded three preschools. This way, both couples and single parents can ensure an income during the day to support their families.
